GARY MILK DRIVERS MEET TO CONSIDER WAGE SLASH
A meeting of dairy drivers and inside workers was held in Gary Monday night to determine their union's attitude on requests by dairies for a minimum reduction according to Fred F. Schutz, business agent of the union. A contract with local milk dealers which expired May 31 had continued the aid wage agreement of $45 a week, plus commission, from April SO, when the dealers announced that reduced prices of milk would force them to cut a/age scales. The dairies have requested that the wage scale be reduced to $37.50 a week, the same wage basis which the Hammond union sanctioned about two weeks ago.
