HARRIET SWART DIES SUDDENLY

Friends and relatives were shocked Monday evening, when news came from Crown Point of the sudden death of Miss Harriet Swart, at 5:45 P.M. Miss Swart, who had made her home with the Schraeder family there for several years, died as she returned from the dairy next door with a bottle of milk. She had not complained and apparently had felt in excellent health that day. Death resulted from heart trouble. A few weeks ago she had stayed over night at the Methodist hospital in Gary for a varicose vein operation but had presumably recovered. Her mother, Mrs. Anna Swart, was visiting her at Crown Point at time of her death. The body was taken to the W. J. Wright funeral home in Rensselaer, and brought to the home of her mother here Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, from the house, and at 2 o'clock from the American Reformed church. Interment will be in the cemetery east of DeMotte. Harriet Swart was borji in Chicago, 111., Dec. 11, 1896, the only daughter of Lou and Anna Swart. She was a member of the DeMotte American Reformed church. The many “week-ends she spent here with her mother always found her in her church on Sunday. Her father passed away in 1926 and a brother in 1921.* Besides the mother, the deceased is survived by four brothers, Tom, Neal, Ben and Leonard, all of this community. She passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 1939. She leaves many friends at Crown Point where she had been employed many years, as well as a host here in her home town.
