LETTER TO THE EDITOR
fire! Fire! That’s what we all dread —the thought of fire. Well, our fire department was on the! jab again Tuesday. These boys should have lots of credit, for as soon as I the fire siren rings, they drop their work and take their own cars, risk their lives, ruin clothing—to help a friend or neighbor whose house or barn may be burning. The business men can feel proud of our fire department and the business houses that don’t belong to the DeMotte Business Men’s Association ought to think seriously what it means to them and the town. It just costs SI.OO a month to be a member of the association, and this organization i supports, financially, the Fire Department, band concerts and many othef things. Think that over. In talking with Mr. Ease Wednesday 'morning, he said: “I want to thank those fellows who made it possible to have a fire department here, and the firemen. They saved my house, saved about $275 worth of eggs and poultry, and many other things on my farm. It sure is a fine thing to have. I’m going to remember the business men who partake in all these doings for the town. We should give them b«ur support. We need to help pur business men grow. Where would this town be without stores? Just t’hink of 40 years ago.’’ Signed, A. Lageveen.
