CORN HUSKING CONTEST WEEK 16th
At a meeting of the Jasper County Corn Husking Contest Committee, held Saturday night, Sept. 30, the week of Oct. 16th was selected as the date for the contest. The exact day will be announced later. The field for the contest has not as yet been selected and this is an invitation for anyone in this county who has a good field of corn an'd who would permit the contest to be held on their farm to report same to County Agent’s office before Saturday, Oct. 7, when the committee will inspect the fields and report where the 1939 contest will be held. Any corn husker interested in competing in the 1939 contest and who has lived in Jasper county since Mar. 1, 1939, should attend a meeting at the County Agent’s office Saturday, October 7, at 7:30 p.m., when the ten contestants will be chosen. Because of their record in the 1939 contest, Arnold Kanne, Paul Swing, and Marvin Stutzman are automatically entered in the 7939 contest. Seven more contestants areeligible and will be selected Saturday, Oct. 7, at 7:36 p.m. Vilas Jacks, 1938 county and state champion, will also husk in the 1939 county contest, thus making eleven contestants; however, Mr. Jacks is not eligible for any prize in the county contest any of the other ten contestants who make a record in the 1939 county contest sufficiently high to entitle them to compete in the 1939 contest will be eligible to compete sh the 1939 state contest along with Mr. Jacks. It is hoped that many good fields of corn willl be reported to the county agent's office after farmers read this invitation to report fields. We really want the best field in the county for the 1939 county contest. We have the state champion now, and we can huvs another li we have a good field. Please report fields before Oct. 7th.
