Born, to Rev. and Mrs. Theodore Schaap, a son, Ronald Cordell, at the hospital at Grand Rapids, Mich., Sept. 25th. The newcomer weighed 8 lbs., 6 oz. Mrs. Carrie Konovsky entertained
the C.Y.O. organization of the Wheatfield church at her home here Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Pasvoget, of Blarring, 111., are visiting friends here this week, including the A. Moolenaar family and others. Mr. Pasvogel i» here looking after his farming interests. Mr. and Mrs. A. Lageveen, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jarrett, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cox, Miss Tresa DeHaan and Henry Starkey were guests at a turkey dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Ro wen last Thursday night. Henry Zylstra, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Zylstra, has been elected to preside over the Lambda Epsilon Phi Literary Society at Central College, Pella, lowa. Zylstra is a senior in the college this year. Mr. and Mrs. Cy Rowen celebrated their sth wedding anniversary and Mrs. Rowen’s birthday Sunday with a family dinner. There were about 25 present.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Bahler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Max Rynerson of Indianapolis, Max Bahler, student at Purdue U., Dean Bahler of Fairmount, and Billy Bahler, student at St. Joseh's College, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Knochel at Remington Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Klngma and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Vander Molen and family returned Saturday from a 2-weeks vacation in lowa and Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beier were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Abbring. In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lageveen accompanied them to South Bend to visit friends. The DeMotte Band Mothers organization is planning to hold another fall carnival this next month, on Oct. 20th, in the school gym. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hanaway have moved to their farm, just north of the river bridge. Mrs. Arthur Lageveen entertained her ridge club Tuesday evening, with guests for four additional tables. Among those from here who have attended the American Legion convention at Chicago, this week are: Mrs. Fred Boissy and son, Peter Mak and son, Merl Curtin, Mrs. Carrie Konovsky, Miss Marge Konovsky. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Kemper and daughter, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Bert Watson, of LaCrosse, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Curtin Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mochler and daughters, of La Crosse, were guests Sunday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Curtin. Wednesday the DeMotte Fish and Game Club received a supply of Channel cat fish minnows, to be placed in the Hodge ditch. Miss Virginia Slocum, teacher in the DeMotte schools, spent last week end at Decatur, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. John Beetsma attended the wedding of their nephew, Tony Moekstra, at Lansing, 111., last Thursday evening.
