M. L. Ritter is improving- some. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Burroughs and Mrs. L. Rizly, of Sheldon, 111., were visitors in Shelby Aug. 30. Mr. Burroughs is Mrs. Elsie Durkee’s brother, a retired mail carrier. F. H. Fursman is working -even miles south of Lake Village. The Townsend Club met at Shelby school building Aug. 29fh,'and elected their new officers for the coming year, as follows: Wm. Gottschalk, president; O. Fuller, vice-president : Lorretta Ellis, treasurer; P. Mahno, secretary; G. Dickey, A 1 and E. Feldman, F. Fursman,-J. Cox, for advisory board. The I. O. O. F. will hold their next district meeting at Hobart. It will be a joint meeting of Rebekahs and Odd Fellows. The Second one will be held in Lake county, the first being at Shelby, on Sept. 25th. Dont forget and be sure and come. The latch string is always out. School busses were flying around Saturday morning, and children were all on their toes. School starts Sept. sth. E. Burton, of Shelby, passed away quietly at his home here at 4 P.M., on Saturday, Sept. 2nd. Interment was made Tuesday afternoon, at Orchard Grove cemetery. Labor Day passed very quietly here. There seemed to be about the same amount of traffic going each way, so there there must have been some things south of here as well as north.
