Among those from here who attended the Golden Gloves boxing matches in Gary Monday and Tuesday nights were: L. M. Bauman, Howard Evans, Merle, Gerald and C. P. Curtin, J. B. Coxf Dr. E. F. Duvall, Marvin Bernard and A. L. Jensen. A former Jasper county boy, Charles Swisher, was on the card, and won his first match on Monday night, receiving a nice ovation from the crowd. Tuesday night he was knocked out by his opponent. Mrs. Anna Swart fell on the icy streets here last Saturday afternoon and broke her hip. She was taken to the Jasper county hospital where an x-ray showed a bad break, as the bone had pierced the flesh. Mrs. Swart is 70 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sampson were in South Bend Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Kelly. They visited Mis* Henrietta Sampson, who is still in the hospital following an auto accident two weeks ago. Her nose and jaw were broken and other injuries received.
