SCHOOL NOTES

St. Valentine's Day is being cele bra ted quite generally throughout the ,school excepting the h.gh school, and who knows how many missives of hearts and flowers arc exchanged across aisles and by mysterious iia . ! passes behind backs. DeMotte played .three games Wheatfield and our grade and first teams were defeated second team Wdn. We played San Pierr< here Tuesday night; our grade and second teams won; our first tear was defeated in a close game. 'Arthur Sehoonveld has returned to "'the second team squat! and he and Fred Zeck played alternately in the San Pierre game. All three squads from DeMotte seem to be “ioing places” now. Some of the seniors, during a Civics test, moved the Constitutional Elm, at Corydon, to Indianapolis, and admitted Indiana to the Union on Dec. 16, instead of the 11 tit. Maybe we just get our trees and dates mixed (historical ones, at least). The Physics class is in a quandary with reversing currents and recording degrees of deflection. Then, to top it off, we have to connect two carbon, sticks to some dry cell batteries, put v O * the yarbon into blue water, and expert one of the sticks to come out copper plated. It sounds ,easv/ and it looks easy, but it’s not. The Freshman class was taken in a bus to Wheatfield Wednesday i > take the tuberculin test. Thirty-one a made the trip. Had one not. been absent we would have had 7 00'l. Mr. ’May accompanied them. The same group will be taken back 1 riday morning to have the tests read. SIXTH GRADE— Tuesday afternoon we celebrated St. Valentine's day with a taffy pull and an exchange of Valentines. \\ e all enjoyed our day and our tat tv a great deal. FIFTH GRADE NEWS'S Our attewdar e w Vvry low because on flu. We enjoyed a Valentine party on Tuesday afternoon. After passing out Valentines (our box was almost full) we ate candy, oranges and Icecream bars. FOURTH GRADE NEWS— Wilma Walstra and Albert Raska both celebrated their birthdays in >ur room this past week. Stephen Thompson has'moved and is now going to eschool at Hebron. We all miss him very much. We had our Valentine party Tims day afternoon, and all of us received many Valentines. THIRD GRADE NEWS — We are having many absences due to sickness. We hope our attendan e will be better soon. Our grade bed a St. Valentine’s day celebration > Tuesday afternoon. We exchanged. Valentines and had a nice party.
