4-H CLUB BEEF STEER CLUB TOUR HELD SATURDAY
The second 4-H beef steer club tour for 1938 was held Saturday, June 25. Stops were made at 11 farms to inspect the calves and discuss the feeding and management practices being used. Forty 4-H club members, parents, and leaders attended this tour. The prospects for a good exhibit for 1938 are very good. The calves were all weighed before the tour on June 25 and there are several calves weighing over 900 lbs., and a few slightly less than 1100 lbs. Mrs. Wm. Barker celebrated the Fourth of July by having all the family together again, which were all of her children, grand-children and three great-grandchidren. They met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rexford McDaniel. Large tables were taken out in the grove, where a delicious pot-luek dinner was served. Those present were Mrs. Wm. Barker, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Barker and family, of DeMotte; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Harrington, of Chicago; Mr. And Mi*s. James Moyer and family, of Pontiac, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Snip and family, of Kersey; Mr. and Mrs. Rexford McDaniels and family; also a cousin, Mrs. Andrew, of Chicago. In the afternoon home-made ice cream and cake was served. All reported a fine time. Miss Verona Tanner has returned home from Gary for several weeks.
