DEMONSTRATION OATS VARIETIES

CILLAM TOWNSHIP JULY 7. Jasper county farmers, who must of necessity grow oats for feed and straw as well as to complete their rotation practices, are interested in tecuTing a variety of oats best adapted to their local conditions. Jasper county farmers are invited to a field meeting at the farm of Ammen Osbourn in Gillam township' at 12:30" P.M. Thursday, July 7th. Mr. Osbourn lives west of Francesville on the Jasper-Pulaski county line. Nine varieties of oats are included in this demonstration which was seeded April 15. The varieties being grown are: Minota, Wayne, Columbia, Cartier, Big Four, Hulless, Sensation and Mr. Osbourn’s local variety. The nine varieties are drilled f-ide by side and offer an excellent opportunity for farmers to compare time of maturity, stiffness of straw, length of heads J#nd character of grain of these more promising varieties. Mr. K. E. Beeson, Purdue Agronomist, will attend the meeting. . _ Farmers are urged to give about one >hour of their time Thursday to see this plot.
