JASPER COUNTY ELECTRIFICATION

FOR FARMERS UNDER REMC IS GAINING GROUND. Rural electrification in Jasper county took rapid strides forward in the past week and before many weeks pass the electrification of a great many more rural homes will be a realization. The Jasper county REMC has been at a standstill the past year. Last Saturday Ernest Rockwell, secretary of the Jasper county REMC received a telegram from the state REMC stating that the appropriation for rural electrification had been increased from thirty million dollars to *’orty million and that money is now available for Jasper county projects. A meeting was held in Rensselaer Saturday to prepare for this county’s appropriation. There are now 187 Ms miles of rural electrification signed up in the county, with a possibility that there will be 200 miles. The Jasper county board is anxious to have all persons who anticipate getting rural electrification to sign up. Property Owners must sign an easement to their property before the projects can be completed. There must be easements so that the actual construction can be started and completed without hindrance. A meeting was scheduled for Rensselaer Wednesday night, and township meetings will be scheduled later. F. E. Schoer is the Jasper county president and Ernest Rockwell is the secretary. ,Other members of the board are: Orville Hitchings, Elmer Jacks and Ed Kosta.
