FILE REQUESTS NOW FOR FOREST CLASSIFICATION
Landowners desiring to take advantage of Indiana’s classified forest land laws by which wooded land is assessed for taxation at a nominal value to encourage reforestation, should file their applications now, Virgil M. Simmons, commissioner of the Department of Conservation, pointed out today. While tracts accepted for classification will not be subjected to reduced rates for taxation until after March 1, 1939, requests for classification must be made in advance as each tract must be inspected before it can be accepted and certified to county officials.
