THE POST HAS A BIRTHDAY

--STARTS ON EIGHTH YEAR OF SERVICE TO COUNTY

With this issue the Kankakee Val ley Post starts on its eighth year of publication. During that time it has grown, from a paper with a few readers until now it can actually count over, 3,000 adults who regularly read it.

Our subscription list has gradually grown until it is one that we are proud of. We run our paper on the assumption that if it was worth reading it was also worth paying for. Consequently, we have probably the only paid-up subscription list of any local paper in this section. Our hundreds of paying subscribers have our thanks and our appreciation. We enjoy an extra good advertising patronage and we have our merchants here to thank. For their liberal patronage we are thankful. We have tried to give the public here all the news that is fit to print. A check-up this week, or any week, by any citizen will show the class of news we publish. We have a great many individuals who help us with information concerning coming community affairs, for whom we are indeed grateful.

In our editorial columns we have endeavored to point out the needs of this community. We have aceomplishresults which all reader are well aware. At times we have stated facts which have brought hard feeling and financial reprisals to us personally. However, we know that in those cases we have accomplished results which would have taken years to accomplish in any other manner. We shall continue to hold for a free press, without fear of revenge from any public official. A great many things have come to pass during the brief span of our existence here. Churches have been built, the whole main street burned down and re-built, an addition made to the plant of our school, a fire department established, numerous new stores and business concerns come, new families come. We hope that in the near future other vital improvements and changes made that will result in a better town and community. We hope that in the years to come we will continue to merit the continued support of the people of this section by furnishing them a real, live, thinking, civic-minded medium of information. If we continue to do that we need not fear for our future and the future of this community.
