LOWELL SINKS SHELBY
By H. D. Hoppe
The Shelby baseball team came to Lowell last Sunday to make good their boast. But something must have slipped. They brought the wrong pitcher, not to mention a few others. After seven innings of rather hectic baseball they went back to Shelby with the wrong end of a 13 to 2 score and what was left of their reputation. Shelby played a very listless brand of baseball, the infield especially looking quite ragged. This coupled with Lowell’s aggressive style of play, turned the game into somewhat of a farce. Hall, Shelby hurler, voluntarily walked off the mound after the Lowell sluggers had pounded him for 11 hits and 12 runs in less than three innings. Cecil Mitch finished the game for Shelby and did very well after a shaky start. Roberts, Lowell’s slab artist, just coasted along after the first two innings. There have been no earned runs scores on him in the two games he has worked for Lowell. The Leroy baseball team, with its undefeated pitcher, Jim Schaffer, will be at Oakland Park, Lowell next Sunday. They feel that they can put a crimp in Lowell’s style. Roberts will be on the mound for Lowell.
