Jimmie Sullivan, of Gary, is visiting with his sister and family, Mv. and Mrs. R. B. Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Adam of East Chicago spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs Jay Weaver. Rufus Checks of Lansing spent Sunday with friends of this vicinity. Lightning struck a barn owned by John T. Bess, Sunday night. The fire was noticed in time for Mr. Bess to rush in and get a horse out. The roaring of an airplane motor awakened the neighbors and they went to the fire which was already underway. Mr. and Mrs. Alvae Magee and son of Gary spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John T. Bess. Mrs. Dallas Henry and son, Carlyn of Fair Oaks, spent Wednesday with Mrs. Geo Joye. Little Miss Edna Belle Burton has the measles at this writing, but she
laughs and says there are several more things she would rather do than “Whistle in the Dark.” Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mattocks and grandddaughter Thelma Leverenz spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mattocks and family of Kankakee, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Riggs of Kankakee, Ill., are now residents of this vicinity. Miss June Stiens of Chicago is spending a few weeks vacation with Miss Vivian Burton. Mrs. Belva Burton of Momence spent Sunday afternoon with her family here. Miss Bonnie Hickman received a permanent at the Yorks Beauty Shoppe Saturday.
