CHALLENGES RENSSELAER BALL TEAMS.
Owing to the fact that I have been severely critized on several different occasions because of my inability to schedule baseball games with one or both of the Rensselaer ball clubs, I desire to inform the baseball followers of the DeMotte Baseball Club, that on numerous occasions, I have attempted to schedule games. I have written to the two managers of the teams several times. In fact, I have talked to them personally. However, on each occasion, they have sidestepped the issue, because of some trivial reason. I have come to the conclusion that the above mentioned teams do not desire to play our ball club, because they are quite certain that our team would come out victorious, whether we played one game or a series of three games with each team. For the information of the baseball public, I hereby challenge publicly both Rensselaer teams for a game. believe it is fitting and proper to consider that the DeMotte Baseball team is and should be the Champions of, Jasper County. We admit that our team has not played either Rensselaer team this year, however, that is no fault of our club, owing to the reasons as state above. Because of the above stated reasons, I am going to declare our team to be the Champion team of Jasper County, unless, possibly, the managers of the Rensselaer teams obtain a new supply of baseball nerve and decide to accept our challenge.
FRED McGLINN,
Manager of the DeMotte Athletic Club.
