Swimming weather is here again in full sway and the moth-balls are being removed from swimming suits The river is rapidly diminishing to its usual summer level and everyone can safely enjoy swimming in the ol’ Kankakee. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Latta and Wava visited in Hammond on Sunday. Junior Dorsch is enjoying quite an extended stay with his father, Adam Dorsch in Hamomond. Better hurry home “June” cause Bill is impatiently awaiting his turn to visit there. Mrs. R. E. Fuller, who is in the M. E. hospital at Gary, is not improved at this writing. You will find the best and cheapest line of straw hats at Heide’s Store, Crown Point. The following out of town people were guests of their brother, Gerald Davis and family over Memorial Day: Mr. and Mrs. “Speck” Davis of South Bend, Miss Grace Davis of Hammond, Mrs. Fred Struble and son, Dan of Gary, ‘Bus’ Davis and friend, Miss Mary Dunn of Hammond. Art Burle of DeMotte was a caller at the Nelson home Sunday. Or isn’t this unusual? Mr. and Mrs. Guy Dickey and sons of Hobart, spent the week end with Mrs. Josephine Dickey. Miss Helen Cross spent last in Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Haslett and son, Jimmy of Chicago enjoyed the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Mel Jones and family. Four boys from Crown Point are passing this week at Ahlgrim’s Park. Miss Grace Williams were removed to the M. E. hospital at Gary because of appendicitis Wednesday of last week. She is reported to be recovering from her operation very nicely. A fine line of figured voile and bastiste dress goods, also carried in a full line of Excella Patterns 10c to 25c. Heide’s Store, Crown Point. Mr. and Mrs. George Hathaway are making a fine new residence in the rear of their store building and hope to move in some time next week. Everett Ahlgrim of Calumet City, Illinois, spent from Thursday till Sunday at Ahlgrim’s “Huck” Davis received a letter from his nephew, Paul Strouble last week. Paul is now in northern California and asks to be remembered to all his lady friends. Mrs. Earl Pace was the guest of her sister and mother at Rochester last week. Arlo Wiley of Chicago enjoyed last Week with his father, Hedley Wiley at the latter’s cottage in Water Valley. Mrs. Sam Sirois spent last week with her son, Ernest Sirois and family in Chicago. The vote on the 21st Amendment in Shelby was rather light. The verdict was 85 to 42 for ratification, or almost exactly two to one for repeal.
