The editor has information that from now on Fred McGlinn will shave every day. Recently when he was in Gary where he had gone to take some young folks to a show, he was approached by a kind-heart-ed old lady who offered him 15 cents for a shave (which he needed very much, as he had been in the fields all day working). Fred thanked her very humbly and agreed that “times are hard, lady”. Yes, he took the 15 cents. Mrs. Gerald Curtin and the twins
motored to LaCrosse Wednesday evening to spend a week with her folks. Miss Sarah Moore of Owensville, Ihd., is visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cox. Merl Curtin went to Gary on business Tuesday. Several from the M. E. Sunday School are wondering why Charles Groet loses his voice every Sunday. Why is it Charles? George Brannen spent last week end with Jacoba DeKock. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Chever are the proud parents of an eight pound baby girl, who has been named Ruth Ann. Clifford Johndrou of. Lowell, Miss Douglas and Mr. Clyde Johndrou of St. Louis, Missouri, visited with Amy Grunwald Tuesday evening. Jack Plumb and son, Francis Plumb of Bensenville, Illinois spent last week end with Mrs. Grace Grunwald and family. Howard Luce and Mrs. Lulu Luce of Chicago spent last week end in the Chas. Spencer home and Mrs. Lulu Luce is spending the remainder of the week with her mother. Miss Tobbe and Miss Hall, who have been visiting at the Groet home left for Chicago Thursday. Miss Jacoba DeKock is visiting relatives in Chicago. Mrs. E. Leeson entertained her bridge club last Thursday evening with Mrs. Harry Rathburn and Mrs. Lawrence Bauman as guests. The high score prize was awarded Mrs. C. Holliday and second to Mrs. Harry Rathburn. Consolation fell to Mrs. Gerald Curtin. Mrs. Mid Hart and daughter Shirley, Mrs. Wm. Spurgeon and son Joe spent last week end in Henning, Ill., and were accompanied home by Mrs. Harry Lusk and son, Gene who will spend the week with relatives. The members and friends of the M. E. Church held a social evening at the church last Friday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Rex McDaniels, who were married in December. A mock wedding was the special feature with the following persons taking part: The Bride, Dorothy Akers, The Groom: W. Groet; Best man: Ronald Mosier; Brides Maid: Lorinda McGlinn; The Preacher: Russell McDaniels. A miscellaneous shower of gifts was presented the honored guests and refreshments of sandwiches, cake and coffee were served.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mosier, Mrs. Bert Robbins and Claude and Ronald Mosier spent the week end visiting relatives in Muncie, Ind.
