RECEPTION TO THE STATE CHAIRMAN
YOUNG REPUBLICANS DO HONOR TO G. O. P. HEAD. One of the most successful offyear political events ever held in Lake County occurred at the Elk’s Temple in East Chicago last Friday evening when the young republican clubs of the First District tendered a banquet and reception to Republican State Chairman Don B. Irwin. Over two hundred young republicans gathered for the meeting. Included in the guests of honor in addition to the state chairman were Letcher Lusby, of Chicago, representing the national organization of young republican clubs, J. L. Coburn, representing the State organization of republican clubs, District Chairman John Scott, of Gary, County Chairman Walter Green, County Chairman Mrs. Alvina Killigrew, Secretary Richard Springgate, the Mayors of Hammond, Gary, Whiting, East Chicago, Hobart and Crown Point, District Chairman E. J. Freund, of the Second District. City Chairman J. L. Ridinger of East Chicago, acted as toastmaster and introduced the various speakers of the evening.
