More than one hundred friends and relatives called to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Hart, Sr., Sunday, April 2nd, on their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Out of town guests arrived from Hobart, Medaryville, Hebron, Monticello, Lafayette, Rensselaer and Chicago. A family dinner was served at the noon hour to twenty six relatives. The table decoration was carried out in a gold and white color scheme. A huge angle food cake decorated with gold lettering and a band was the center piece; this being the gift of Mrs. Andrew Grube a close friend of Mr. and Mrs. Hart. The out of town relatives for dinner were Regal Spencer, Marion Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fairchild and family, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson, Monticello; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Anderson, Medaryville; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hambridge and daughter, Shadeland, Ind.; Mrs. Flo Querry, Russell Querry, Mr. and Mrs. Guilford Querry of Medaryville Ind. The house was decorated in gold and white crepe paper and yellow roses. During the afternoon cake and coffee was served to the many callers. Many beautiful gifts were received displaying the friendship and goodwill the friends hold for the happy couple. Miss Kennedy and Mrs. Edna Summers entertained their bridge club Thursday evening at the home of the latter. First prize was awarded to Mrs. Al Euart and second to Mrs. Rapp. Mrs. Mary Bunning entertained the Faculty Monday with a seven o’clock dinner at her restaurant. The remainder of the evening was spent in playing cards at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Eurat. Mrs. Essie Erwin is spending the week in Wheaton, Ill., visiting relatives. Mrs. Charles Curtin will enterMr. and Mrs. Paul Sekema celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary Monday, Miss Mildred Brown and Mr. Oscar Coberly took supper with her folks in Wheatfield Sunday evening. Victor Van Meerten is now employed as fireman in the local cheese factory. For the information as to why Carl and lady friend called on Fred McGlinn in the wee small hours of the morning last week inquire at the cheese plant or corner grocery. Anyone wishing protection from savage dogs call on Fred Wolfe. He guarantees results. Richard Huisinga called on Evelyn Merritt last Sunday afternoon, and left her a fine police pup. Nobody seems to want to own up to throwing the tires and harness into the Hodge ditch, that were found last week. Sim Punter reports a very large number of wild ducks at the present time on the Cameron Reserve. He feeds them several bushels of shell corn every day and they are becoming quite tame. Ray Van Meerten, Mrs Fairchild and daughter Blanche motored to the city last week. Quite a few oats have been sown in Keener Twp., some of which will have to be sown over because of jjhe high water.
Bill White and Hermie Bunning are representing DeMotte at Shelby on dance nights and the way they looked Sunday morning their reinforcements did not arrive in time--but any way the one who lives to run away lives to fight another day. Mr. Regal Spencer visited with his folks over the week end. Found by Ronny Mosier in the Safstrom Park, a new four door Chevrolet Sedan Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGlinn and daughters, Shirley Ann and Louise motored to Chicago to shop Tuesday. Miss Clara Osting of Crown Point spent the week end with home folks. Mr. Richard Huizinga returned home after spending a few days in Chicago. Miss Margaret Knochel from Kawkalin, Michigan is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Wm. Bahler. Dean Bahler attended the show at Rensselaer last Sunday afternoon. Louise McGlinn worked at the Koffee Kup Sunday while the proprietor Mrs. Jay Spencer attended
the Golden Wedding Anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Sam McGinnis went to Medaryville Tuesday on business and called on several relatives and friends. Wm. Bahler visited his daughter, Gladys, who is working in Frankfort. Mrs. Grace Grunwald, Mrs. Florence Walstra and Mrs. Neil Sekema spent Friday out to Mrs. Jenny Crawfords. The day was spent in quilting. Miss Ida Ausema and Mr. Henry DeKock had supper with the Dykema family Sunday evening. Miss Emma Dykema and Mrs. Klien motored to Chicago Thursday. Mr. Hilbrand Ousema celebrated his fifty first birthday Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ausema and daughter, Ida motored to Chicago Saturday. Mrs. Mahlon Grevenstuk and baby motored to Rensselaer with her father and mother Monday. Miss Tena Dykema visited Miss Dorothy Fieldhouse Tuesday afternoon. Mary Bunning gave a fish supper for the DeKock family a week ago Friday night at her restaurant. Mrs. Henry DeKock of Chicago is a visitor of the DeKocks. Mr. Ralph and Mr. John DeKock had their babies baptized Sunday morning. Mr. George Brennen of Berwyn visited with Jacoba DeKock over the week end.
