DeMOTTE SCHOOL NEWS

Tena Toppen visited school Monday afternoon (Ask Tina if her Mr. Dean Bahler spent Sunday at Remington. The Junior Class is preparing for the Junior-Senior Banquet to be given soon. The high school were highly entertained Friday morning by children from Mrs. Swart’s room. Indoor baseball is going fine. The Okatanes and Indians played a six inning game Friday afternoon and ended with a score of 6 and 6. The game was played over Monday afternoon and the Okatanes defeated the Indians by a score of 7 to 6. Mike while trying to make his owii decisions was ordered off of the field by Umpire Phelps. The Cooties and Go-devils also played Friday afternoon and the Go-devils won by a score of 15 to 2. Monday afternoon the Roaches and Lassies (girls teams) played and the Lassies were finally defeated by a score of 5 to 4. Some of the boys acted as if they never saw girls play baseball before. The Fleas and Sodbusters also played this week and the Fleas defeated the Sodbusters by a score of 15 to 6. Every noon hour a grand game of baseball is played at the school house. Everyone is invited. The Juniors are having a party Wednesday evening in honor of Mr. Phelps and Mrs. Williams, their class sponsor and coach of the play. The Seniors are going to give their play “The College Hobo” April 7th at 8:00 o’clock p. m. at the Community Hall. The cast in the play is as follows: Mr. Sims, uneducated farmer. Sally Simms, Mr. Sims’ daugh-ter--Marguerite Kooy Hobo, football player Cornelius Tysen Patricia, Hobo’s sister Amy Grunwald Fritzy, cheer leader Louise McGlinn Bess, attractive coed Alice Van Meertin Eileen, attractive coed Janet Schwanke Adolphus, college freshman Mike Segina Prof. Crockett, college president Clarence DeHaan Miss Weaver, kitchen matron Lillian Lamphier Marvin Marshall, ministerial student--Henry Zylstra Cousin Susie, an old maid Johnnie Johnson, Susie’s nep-hew--Catherine White
