DeMOTTE SCHOOL NEWS

The Biology Class constructed bird houses in class Monday. Mr. Slabaugh watches the notes fly around the assembly for awhile and then does he catch them? Well, just ask the seventh graders. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew DeHaan and daughters Tresa, Grace, and Angie called on Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Slabaugh Monday evening. Evelyn Hockney, Angie DeHaan and Grace DeHaan visited school Monday. Lois Granger, Marjorie Conrad, and Mary Tanner visited with us at school Friday. A radio was the outstanding feature in school Friday. Everyone wanted to hear the State Tourney. The typing class is taking dictation on the typewriter now. The boys and girls organized indoor baseball teams for the rest of the season. The captains and the names of the boys teams are: Arie DeKocker, The Go-Devils; John Benes, The Okatones; Paul Bauman The Cooties; Kenneth Gotez, The Indians; The Captains of the girls teams are: Catherine White, Tresa DeHaan, Bernice Hanaway, and Emma Dykema. The names of the teams have not been decided as yet. Baumans and Mays attended the state tourney during the week end. The eighth grade children had a party Wednesday evening. Mrs. May and Mrs. Rapp are preparing a play entitled “The Rummage Sale” for the community meeting. Mr. and Mrs. May went to Rensselaer and Molcott, Saturday. They were accompanied by Miss Barbara Phelps. The Seniors are progressing rapidly with their play and they expect to give it April 7th. Elizabeth Storey is a new pupil in the sixth grade. Charles Shephard has withdrawn from school. The percentage of attendance is much better this month in the sixth grade room. Clyde Shephard withdrew Friday from the second grade. The second and third grade are going to dramatize Hansel and Gretel for the Assembly program Friday.
