AMERICAN LEGION NOTES
Roy A. Black
Next Monday night in the Legion club rooms will be held a meeting which I believe will interest every ex-service man. I believe each former service man should belong to some Legion Post. I especially invite each former service man or woman, who has not joined a Post elsewhere, to join Post No. 101. Comrades after every meeting some one says, “You know these meetings are good.” Well, we know they are and we are just passing these thoughts on to you. Our officers are doing everything to secure new members. But always some faces which we would like to see present are absent. You boys south of Lowell make up a load and be with us next Monday. The Legion meeting which was held on March 6, 1933 was attended by thirty Legionnaires. Oh Comrades what a meeting! Now each one of you plan to attend the next meeting to be held March 20th at the Legion rooms. I’ve promised over sixty members so every one turn out. Comrades did you know that our Post 101 is the most thoroughly talked of Post in Indiana? Did you know we have members in fifteen different surrounding towns, with more members in distant climes Did you know some one is alway remarking “what a wonderful Post” we have, and how sturdy, upright and helpful fellows the Legionaires are? Why not belong to our Post? One hundred thirty-three members at present. Why not join the only Post which went over the top in their quota drive. You comrades from DeMotte, Shelby, Thayer, Wheatfield and Lake Village be present at the next meeting. Bring an eligible member with you. Our District was reported on by Commander Hathaway and it was a rousing meeting according to the report. Now Comrades save April 3, 1933 for the Joint District Meeting at Lowell. Speakers of National note will deliver the addresses. Now check in on this meeting. Jut a tip Comrades, several interesting events are to be discussed at our next meeting, and we need some power to put one or two of these across. Two of our members are at Great Lakes namely Harry Clark and Walter Smith. Am sure each would appreciate a letter for days are long in a place of that kind. Our Commander is out on a membership drive again. We have until March 12, 1933, so why not enroll and put Post 101 above where its ever been in membership. Some arrangement can be made I’m sure if you’ll only see one of the Legionaires. Boys there’s still about forty eligible Comrades who have not taken the steps to belong. Let’s make it a 100% in this community.
Now see one of the boys and sign up. Several committees are activiely engaged working on things for the benefits of each one of us. Give them a word of encouragement and
one to your Commander by your presence at the next meeting. It’s getting near Memorial Day, and we’ll need help for that day so everybody’s shoulder to the wheel and let’s push.
Well Comrade may I have the' pleasure of seeing you personally at the meeting? Do you enjoy these short happenings? Would be pleased to have advice as to the things and way which you would enjoy.
