Pearl Anderson’s arm, which she recently broke, has been removed from the sling and is well on its way to recovery. The stork doesn’t forget to visit this community once in a while. big 10 pound baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Margison Sunday. Mr. Wm. A. Well was suffering severely from serious headache all
last week. Mrs. Harry Lane went to see her physician and she reports that she is well on her way to recovery from her recent heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. Don Felker are spending a few days with Mr. Felker‘s parents on their farm in Pulaski county. Mr. Britten, father of Mrs. Roy Flores of Tefft, is reported being somewhat better. He is suffering with cancer. Belle Reddin motored to Hammond Tuesday to attend the funeral of her niece, who had been ill for several weeks. Those winning prizes at the Tefft card club were as follows, first, Mrs. Roy Williams, second Zelma Deerberg, third Kate Davis. All the children of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Hillard were home Sunday for a delicious dinner with the old folks in Tefft. Mr. and Mrs. John Wills of Whiting, Ind., pent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lane. Mr. John Ahlemeier has been suffering from some serious illness. The name of the illness was not reported but it was feared he would have to have an operation.
SCHOOL NOTES. Wilbur Salrin returned to school last Monday morning after a few days absence. During his absence he was considering whether he should return or not. We are glad he made up his mind to come back. Pearl Krug celebrated her eighteenth birthday last Sunday, by staying away from home, so she would not have to cook supper for the rest of the family. The Juniors and Seniors of the health class are writing two themes. The first is on some subject which is important to health, such as healthful water and milk supplies, first aid in the home and heating the homes. These themes are due the week before school is out. The second theme is ‘A Healthful Home’ For this report members of the class have to draw plans for a home, showing the location of electrical appliances, furniture and heating fixtures. These are due Wednesday March 15. There have been very few absences in school since the big snow: The Junior class play entitled “The Red Headed Step Child” will be given at the Tefft School house on next Tuesday, March 21st, at 8:00 o’clock. This is a bright and snappy play, containing many amusing situations. We are positive you will like this as well as you did the senior play. Buy your tickets now from any of the Juniors.
Marjore Swing spent the week end visiting friends and relatives in Hammond. Mary Katherine and Thomas Glazebrook spent Sundav visiting friends in Rensselaer. The following pupils of the 7th and 8th grades have been neither absent nor tardy during this term. Malcolm Lawrence, Edward Stalbaum, Paul Davis, Ward Stalbaum, Mildred Krug and Ivan Robbins. Last Friday morning a very interesting discussion was held on the value of the machine in our present day civilization. Adelaide Stalbaum and Lucile White spoke in favor of the machine telling how the machine was an aid to our development. Ellen Hill and Eva Jozenes told of the unpleasant situations caused by the machine. Next Friday, March 17th the thirteen month calendar will be discussed.
