DEATHS

Mrs. Eric Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Eric Johnson, who died Saturday, Feb. 25, were held from the home Tuesday at 10 a. m. with interment at the Mt. Greenwood cemetery at 1 p. m. Services were held at the grave. The deceased has lived in DeMotte for about five years, moving here from Chicago. She leaves a husband, one son, two step daughters and several sisters. Rev. Swartz officiated, W. J. Wright, Rensselaer, was funeral director. Stanley Januszewski Funeral services for Stanley Januszewski, who died Monday, Feb. 27 were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the DeMotte cemetery. The deceased has lived in Ponville the past year, coming here from Chicago. He leaves an invalid wife, and a step daughter, of Chicago. Death was at the Jasper County hospital. The funeral services were in charge of Rev. Swart. W. J. Wright Rensselaer, was funeral director. Samuel Payne Samuel Payne, age 58, prominent farmer living north of Wheatfield, was accidentally killed by his own shotgun last Monday. Mr. Payne left his home at 3 o’clock to hunt ducks. When he failed to return, his family started a hunt and about 7 o’clock found his body in a nearby field. The man had crawled through a fence, tripped and fell and his gun was exploded. He was shot in the back of the head and instantly killed. Surviving are the widow, two daughters and five grandchildren. Mr. Payne was born and reared in the vicinity of San Pierre. W. J. Wright, Rensselaer, made the coroners report. F. J. Eatinger of North Judson, was funeral director.
