DeMOTTE SCHOOL NEWS.

Mr. Slabaugh and Mr. and Mrs. May attended the principals meeting at Rensselaer Monday evening. The Jasper County principals will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. May, March 6th for their next principals meeting. Mrs. Mary May will give the Basket Ball girls a luncheon at her home Tuesday. School was dismissed early Tuesday afternoon and will not meet until the weather permits. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Slabaugh entertained the following guests Sunday: Retha and Thelma Hostetler, Dorothy and Paul Kauffman of Goshen and Lester Wenger of Milford. Mr. Groet was a caller at the DeMotte High School Tuesday. The Senior class will begin to practice their play entitled “The College Hobo” soon. The Juniors are starting the third act of their play. Last week our school was visited by the State Inspector and our County Superintendent, Mr. Sterrit. The Seniors are planning on ordering their rings soon. A committess has been appointed to get samples. The Grade Team will represent DeMotte in the Jasper County Grade Tournament Friday and Saturday. Saturday night will be he red letter night for basket ball. Roosevelt high school colored girls will play DeMotte’s strong Independent girls team, composed of DeMottes lex-high school stars. The boys team will play Roosevelt high school’s team. Friday night the D. H. S. team will journey to San Pierre. John McGlinn was absent from school Monday because of sickness. Martha DeVries and Marvin Epson and Rennie Hasset were absent from school this week. Keener Township has gone over the top again by winning first in the Farm Bureau membership drive for 1933. The soliciting team, Fred McGlinn and Isaac Hunter, won the large banner given by the Jasper County Farm Bureau for the largest list of members from any Township in the county or state. They also won individual honors in the county and state. They report about one hundred and twenty five members for Keener Township. Peter Mak who is in the hospital in Chicago is reported in a very various condition. His family and relatives were called to his bedside Sunday.
