Mrs. John Boezman, Sr., of Thayer is quite ill at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Strong, owners and managers of the Thayer I. G. A. Store have sold out to Mr. Ben Evans of Gary, Ind. It is reported Mr. Evans will take possession this week. Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Strong and family, who have been prominent both socially and in a business manner will be greatly missed by the community as a whole, and we all wish them a success in their next business venture, which we are informed will be another I. G. A. Store in Hammond, Ind. Come on folks, lets all turn out and give Ben a big hand. Read adv. of DeMotte Merc. Co. After two months of strenuous, nerve racking work, Thayer’s two self appointed detectives have succeeded in finding the tracks along the Monon. Merle Hilton was a business caller in Medaryville last week. Mrs. Anna Gebhart, returned home after a brief stay in Chicago. Mrs. Cora Parks of Lake Village and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Parks and family of Momence, Ill. were Thayer visitors last Friday. Mrs. Rose Fuller, Mrs. Anna Gebhart and Mrs. Anna Cobb, attended the funeral of Mrs. Fuller’s step father, Stewart Stowell of Shelby, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Struble and the latter’s mother, Mrs. Magnusion of Chicago were visitors of Mrs. Anna Gebhart Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Williamson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Davidson and family of Chicago were Sunday visitors of Mrs. Anna Gebhart. Mrs. Nagle of Thayer is confined to her home suffering from an injured foot. Mr. Russell Berryman, prominent and well liked business man of Thayer, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 3 o’clock. Death was due to heart disease. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday, Jan. 28th. Interment was made in Lowell, Ind., in the Lowell mauseoleum. He is survived by his wife, Kate Berryman and many relatives and a host of friends. Mr. James Dickey of DeMotte spent the week end with his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Strong went to Hammond on business on Monday, Mrs. James O’Donnell returned home after a weeks visit with her sister, Mrs. Ray Granger.
