The Schneider Woman’s Club met on last Thursday afternoon in the auditorium of the Schneider school house. Hostesses for the meeting were the Mesdames Harry Kelly, Orville Beier, Ira Gerrich and Bertie Watts. Business proceedings consisted of the usual routine date concerning club conventions, and information about the Hoosier Salon to be held in Chicago this week, and which several members have planned to attend. Bunco provided amusement for the afternoon, and awards were made to Miss Carrie Correll, Mrs. R. McLachlan, and Mrs. C. Rader. Refreshments of sandwiches and coffee were served. The meeting marked the farewell to one of the hostesses, Mrs. Harry Kelly, who is leaving soon to another address to make her home. The Club extended its best wishes for her success in her new home, and expressed its sorrow at the sense of loss the Club will feel in her absence, as Mrs. Kelly has proved to be a most faithful member. On Sunday, January 29th, friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Larson to wish them much happiness in their new home near Frankfort, Indiana.
The surprise farewell dinner was a pot luck dinner which was enjoyed by all. All good wishes were extended to the family for much future happiness. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Larson of Gary; Mr. and Mrs. John Larson and family of Hammond; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Peterson and family; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Larson and family; Mr. and Mrs. Emily Larson and family; Mrs. Anna Larson; and Mr. John Daun. Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Simms, Mr. Emil Larson, and Mr. S. A. Dodson, and son, Verlen, attended the Newton County meeting of the Oddfellow’s Lodge held in Lake Village on Monday evening. They reported a most enjoyable evening and expressed much admiration for the fortypound roasted pig that Mrs. Reno Rouse of Schneider had prepared, and which was served to the many persons present. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Hartwick spent Sunday at the J. Sutter home in Westmont, Illinois. Mr. Hawkins of Lake Village, Fred McRoberts; Mrs. William Hayes; and Miss Mary Langford attended the Lake County Teachers’ Institute in Gary Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. F.
