AMERICAN LEGION NOTES.
Well! Well! Boys! Did we have some meeting. Well I should say so. Did you miss something? Sure, you always do when you don’t attend a meeting. So boys I’d advise you to attend the next meeting at Lake Village, February 1, 1933 at the I O. O. F. Hall. Come boys, we’re over the hundred mark in membership and we need more. Bring a member with you to this meeting at Lake Village and comrades all come be sure to bring dues if at all possible or at least have some idea how you can pay them. All ex-service men are welcome to this meeting whether your dues are paid or not. Forty-five comrades were present at the last meeting and some new ones signed up for 1933. A comrade from Crown Point was present. A challenge was issued to the Crown Point post for a supper to the Post going over the top in membership by Feb. 11. The losing Post will feed the winning Post. Come out and help. Join the Legion to help the Legion, not partcularly our Post. Both the Legion and Post 101 appreciate your membership. All out; let’s go over the top by Feb. 11, 1933 Our committee for the minstrel show is clicking like clock work. This show will be the big event before next Labor Day. We’ll all be there. We’ll be glad to see you in the audience that night. Having a large membership at
Cedar Lake, the meeting Monday night was well attended by Cedar Lake comrades. Listen fellows, if we have a few more of these live, peppy, enthusiastic meetings we’ll be unable to keep any Comrades away. Well, the more the merrier. So boys! Membership drive is on. Step up. Pay down your dues and hurray for the winner. Who? Our local Post 101. We’ve raffled several things off to pay the dues of some worthy brother. Our District meeting will be held Wednesday, February 1, 1933 at Hammond Post 168. This meeting should be attended by every member of our Post. An excellent program has been arranged and some say EATS. Our Post has appointed on able committee to foster and promote the idea of “Buy Amercan”. We feel as if this is a worthy undertaking and should be given hearty support by every American. We want to impress on the minds of everyone, its America, FIRST, LAST AND ALWAYS. Buy American.
We missed several laces, some from Lowell, Creston, DeMotte, Lake Village, and others. We need each and every one. Come, give a boost for our Post 101. Let’s have 100 members at Lake Village. Bring along an ex-service man. Here is where Fred Minniger asks a favor of you to protect you Please see that he receive s vour discharge. He'll copy your record, (this may be valuable later). Then you receive your discharge back. This will take about two minutes of your time. Comrade Berg has a wonderful idea which he is working out on the Post history. Therefore he asks for a snapshot of yourself, preferably during service. This will be a permanent record for our Post 101. The above two requests should be taken care of immediately. Hurray don’t delay. Give these Comrades a helping hand. Well, Comrades, I’ll see you Feb. 1st. All ex-service men welcome for this night. Publicity Committee
