Mrs. Dan Williams, age 35, passed away at her home two miles east of town last Friday morning following a two weeks illness. She is survived by her husband and five small children. Funeral services were conducted from the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. C. W. Wilmer officiating. Burial was made in the Rensselaer cemetery. Mrs. Louis Bugbee, Mrs Gilbert White, and daughter returned to South Bend Thursday evening following the days visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Dolzal. George Rennewanz and wife spent the later part of the week visiting among relatives at Indianapolis. Miss LaVerne Eberhart arriveed home Saturday following a three week stay with her uncle, H. Tannehill and family at Chicago. Mrs. Wm. Fullen was removed to the Holy Family hospital at LaPorte, Saturday morning, where she underwent an operation for mastoids. She is getting along nicely. Mrs. Alfred Wills and Mrs. John Wills of Hammond were local social callers Friday. The revival services conducted by Rev. Steele of Mishawaka and Rev. C. W. Walmer at the Zion Evangelical church each afternoon and evening during the past week, were brought to a close last Sunday. The Wm. Eckert family, who have been farming the D. J. Moran farm one mile north of town, moved last week to the George Goar farm north of Tefft. Edwin Eckert is now residing on the farm vacated by his father. The regular meeting of the W. W. Sunday school class will be held at the Jesse Claussen home Friday, Jan. 27th.
The Jesse Clawson family received word of the death of Mrs. Earl Baird, who died at her home at Racine, Wis., Thursday, following a four weeks illness. Sunday, Mrs. Clawson left for Steger, Ill., where she attended the funeral services, Monday afternoon. Mrs. Baird was the wife of Earl Baird, a former San Pierre boy. Mr. and Mrs. John Dolzell, Jr., were in Crown Point over the week end visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Muzzall and daughters. Elton Christensen returned to his work in Chicago Sunday following a ten day visit with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. P. Christensen, Thomas Daly, cashier of the Bank of San Pierre, has been on the sick list during the past week. Asst. Cashier O. M. Dolezal has been replacing Mr. Daly during his absence. Mrs. M. L. Mathews and Phyllis were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Mathews at North Judson. The San Pierre Guardsmen chalked up two victories during the past week by defeating the Wanatah and DeMotte Independent teams. Tuesday they downed the fast Wanatah cagers on the local floor by the score of 51 to 43. Thursday they traveled to DeMotte where they were winners 42-36. Elton Christensen, now of Chicago, but a former high school star here, appeared m both these games and gave a good account of himself. The Cardinals suffered three defeats during the last week, losing to Wanatah 18-22, to DeMotte 16-17 and then lost to the Monterey five. Mrs. Haines returned to her home at Elkhart, Ind., Sunday after spending an indefinite visit with her son, R. Haines and family here. Sunday guests at the home of Charles Krueger were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howell, Gray Howell and family, Elmer Milbrandt of Wanatah and Elmer Coburn and family of Medaryville.
