WHEATFIELD
ELIZABETH McFARLAND
Emmet Dunn returned to Hammond after a days visiting Mr. and Mrs. M. Dunn. The Pollyanna Club met with Mrs. L. Misch. Ten members were present and report a fine time. Mrs. A. S. Barlow who was taken to LaPorte to the doctor, took a turn for the worse Tuesday night. Mrs. Ethel Anderson entertained the Bridge Club Thursday afternoon. Mrs. May Wilmington is reported quite ill at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jensen and friends attended lodge at North Judson Wednesday night. Miss Nelda Ropp had the misfortune to loose a tooth by a fall from a fainting spell. The tooth had to be removed in three pieces which is rather painful. Mr. and Mrs. S. Engle were in town Wednesday afternoon. Wheatfield was almost lifeless Saturday with laughing boys and girls all having gone to the tournament. And what a result! Wheatfield has the big tournament cup--first time but we hope not the last. A new barber shop is next in line in the business adventures here--what with the women growing their hair long and safety razors. Mr. and Mrs. John Jones have been on the sick list this last week. Mr. and Mrs. Shuster and family of Indiana Harbor visited them recently. See DeMotte Mec. ad in this issue Less Woods entertained Joe Hughes of Baker, Mont, a few days last week. Prof. and Mrs. D. Nelson entertained th latter’s relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cooper of Hobart last Sunday. The Jones family of near Teft have decided that town is the best place and moved back. Art Blue has started a new place called “The Blue Chip” just across from the postoffice. Most all the places of business are busily occupied in their annual inventory.
