Lois Granger was taken to Rensselaer hospital Monday afternoon to undergo an operation for appendicitis. Edward Grunwald went to Chicago Friday evening to spend the New Year with his father. Mrs. Clarence Holliday and son, Norman, spent the past week in LaFayette visiting relatives. Mrs. Jay Spencer returned from her visit with her son,. Regal, at Marion, Ohio, Thursday evening. “Mike” Segina visited with relatives and friends in Chicago the past week, returning Friday. Miss Amy Grunwald, Henry Starkey, and Chas. Childs, spent Friday shopping in Gary. George Brennen of Berwyn, 111., visited with the DeKocks the past week. _ , “Harry’s” corner filling station was robbed Sunday nightu^f, tires and accessories. ~ Ross MacKenzie, Chuck Abbring, Kewie Sekema and Casey Granger took in the show at North Judson Sunday night. Mrs. Simon Graelt, Miss Ella Heersma of Chicago, and Mrs. Grace Grunwald spent Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Florence Walstra. Mr. and Mrs. L. Bauman are both in bed with the flu. Paul Slabaugh substituted for Mrs^ Bauman at school Monday. Katherine Segima returned with her sister Ann to Chicago, Tuesday to spend the remainder of the week. [ Mr. and Mrs. James Dickey and Dorothy Summers attended the dance at Shelby Saturday night. ' Gene Cross of Morocco visited with old friends in DeMotte this week. Howard Luce of Chicago, visited with friends in DeMotte the past week. Mrs. Robert Weirsema motored to Blue Island, 111., Friday, returning that evening. Lester Crawford is sick with the flu. Mrs. Cornelius Sekema, Sr., motored to Chicago last week to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rayle, the new Methodist minister, preached his first sermon here on New Year’s day. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Thurner and family motored to Milwaukee, Friday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hunter. Mrs. Thadius Mott of Shelby visited with her son, Melvin Struble and family the past week. “Huck” Van Martin motored to Crown Point Wednesday on business.
