EARLY NEWTON PIONEER PASSES.

Tunis M. Gebhart, for many years a well known resident of Newton county, passed away at his home in Thayer, Friday, Dec. 29 1932, at 12:30 p. m. Tunis Gebhart was the son of Adam and Eliza Gebhart of Pennsylvania. He came to Newton county when quite young and has resided here since that time. He was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Knght, who preceded him in death Feb. 28th, 1917. To this union there were born seven children; Effie, Lawrence, Cora, and Glenny now living and three, who have preceded him in death. He remarried in 1918 to Anna Mulford of Chicago, and to this union was born one daughter, Jane Ann. He is survived by his wife, tw r o s<?ns and three daughters, Lawrence and Glenny, and Cora, Effie and Jane Ann, and by an aged sister, Miss Jane Mackey of Minnisburg, Ohio, and a host of friends. Also three stepsons by his second marriage. He was carried from his home at 1:15 P. M., Jan. 2, and the funeral cortege proceeded to Lake Village church. The sermon was preached by Rev. Turner of Lake Village with a joint ceremony by the Masonic lodge. Hymns were offered by Mr. and Mrs. Franke of Thayer. A daughter, Cora Parks, of Lake Village, who collapsed at the grave ceremonies is very ill at her home with a nervous breakdown and possible complications.
