Mrs. Gus Hanford was taken to the Valparaiso hospital last Wednesday for an appendicitis operation. Reported she is recovering nicely. Mrs. S. Groet has returned home from her visit in Chicago. Her neice Miss Ella Hiersma returned with her. Miss Clara Oosting who is working in Crown Point visited over the week end with home folks. Mr. and Mrs. M. Kelly and children of South Bend visited their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. R. Grevenstuk, Sunday. Henry Starkey visited with friends in Lafayette Friday. Clarence Merritt is home from the Navy on a ten day leave. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Knipper, Jr., and three children. Miss Ella Heersma, Homer, George Jr., and Richard Huizinga, all of Chicago were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Groet. Misses Irene VanGinkle and Louise McGlinn spent Saturday afternoon in Wheatfield. Miss Margaret Akers spent the week end at fhs home of her parents. Mr. Henry Zylstra spent the week end in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Moore motored to Rensselaer on business Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grevenstuk visited their daughter Sunday, who is in the Valparaiso hospital. Emmett Erwin and Helen Curtin motored to Chicago Thursday to spend the day with Charity Erwin who is employed there. Mrs. Robert Anthony of Chicago were visitors in the home of Mrs. Florence Walstra. Miss Frances Hackleberg is working in Crown Point this week. She is taking the place of Miss Harriet Suart. who is having her vacation. Victor VanMeerten and Sam Hamstra motored to Francesville Friday. Our first basket ball game will be with Fair Oaks Friday, Oct. 28. Everybody come and ‘root’ for our home team. Season tickets are now on sale. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ames and sons, and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sanders of Rensselaer spent Sunday night with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Moore.
