Maude Armstrong spent Sunday with her father, Charles Armstrong Mrs. Paul Hershman, and two children, Helen and Edward, visited Saturday afternoon with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Pettet. Mr. W. Guio, branch manager of the Avery Mfg. Co., Indianapolis, was a business visitor here Thursday and Friday. The last period of our school Friday was devoted to a baseball game between our high school boys and the Kniman locals. The results were our local boys won. Harry Alexander and family of Gary, Ind., spent Sunday afternoon with their aunt, Elizabeth Alexander. A most enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Rice, Thursday, from 6 until 8 p. m., the occasion being the seventh anniversary of their little daughter, Jeannette. Seven of her little playmates were present including Norman Wilmington, Elwin Meyers, Velma Louise Meyers, Marion Wilmington, Margaret Meyers and Alma Armstrong. The cake with the seven candles was a beauty and the refreshments very delicious. After playing a number of games the guests departed. Several from here attended the Free Dance at Armstrongs Hall Saturday evening. Lets remember there will be another dance this Saturday evening. The Depression Club met with Gertrude Wilmington on Thursday afternoon. All reported a good time. Carlton Rudelins of Hammond called on his lady friend here Saturday evening. The property recently occupied by Wm. Woosely was destroyed by fire Saturday evening. The origin of the fire is unknown, but the home was completely destroyed. The residence belonged to H. W. Marble of Wheatfield. The Baseball game between Kniman and Gifford Sunday resulted in a victory for Kniman. The score was 6 to 10. Leslie Lewark called on his friend Martha Brook Saturday evening. Anna Hanewich who has been employed in Terre Haute is visiting home folks. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Curtis of near Terre Haute called on the Abbott family Saturday. Gladys and Helen Holle did shopping in Rensselaer Saturday. Mrs. William Holle, Roy Holle and children Buddy, Jackie and Harold, of North Manchester, Ind., visited Sunday afternoon with Charles Holle and family. Ellen and Levant Wahl returned the first of the week from Galesburg, Ill., where they visited their father. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Rice and family attended the show in Rensselaer Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tilton and Mrs. Robert Mannan were Sunday visitors in our town. Emerald Holle, Lewis Trussell and Elmo Rice did mechanical work for Mrs. Bodkins Sunday afternoon. Harriet Crowder called on Amelia Heilscher Sunday. John McCivinew is convalescing from his recent illness.
