Mrs. Caroline Peters and Mr. Newell Jennings were united in marriage last Thursday at Rensselaer. A large party of friends surprised them that evening and gave them an old fashioned charivari. Their many friends here wished them many years of happiness. Pauline Parker of Chicago visited her parents over Sunday. Max Hilliard is home from Chicago for a visit. Mr. Bert Vandercar visited his son and daughter in law in South Bend last Wednesday. Dr. J. C. Bucher who has been quite ill is able to be out again. Mr. and, Mrs. Chas. Wagner and Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner of Chicago visited here Sunday. Mr. L. W. Snowdon of Gary, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Ritenour and family of LaCrosse, Mrs. W. Marshall Smith of Alpena, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Kelly of Elkhart, visited at the Dr. Bucher home over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lakomek entertained 18 guests Monday night, the occasion being the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Rose Brown and Mike Lakomek. A delicious pot luck lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Dunn visited Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Dunn last Sunday. The 500 Card Club after being adjourned for the summer, is starting again for the season. The first meeting is Thursday with Mrs. Kathryn Pinter entertaining. Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Manz to South Bend on business last Tuesday. Mable Clark was a Rensselaer shopper Tuesday. Mrs. Curtiss Steele went to Mentone, Ind., to visit the home of her sister, Mrs. Raleigh Burris. Mrs. John Peterson, Maurice Leizer and Willard Oberlin visited at the home of T. C. Sayers last Friday. Mr. Sayers who has been quite ill is now reported much better. Wheatfield High School defeated Fair Oaks in a baseball game last Friday, the score was 11-5. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weiner of Chicago visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hilliard Saturday.
