THAYER.
The Yacek twins, Helen and Anna entertained a number of their little friends on Thursday afternoon in honor of their eleventh birthday. Mrs. Albert Van Wienen, who has been in a serious condition at the Rensselaer Hospital, is greatly improved and is expected home the part of this week. The Boswinkle boys, Robert and Carroll, are home after spending three weeks in Chicago visiting relatives. Mrs. Roorda, Mrs. Zimmer and children and their guests, Mrs. Marcusse and children, spent last Wednesday picnicing at Lake Fancher. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Davis and family returned last Sunday to their home in Calumet City after an enjoyable weeks vacation with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. V. Cyphers. Mrs. Christie Baude has returned after spending the week end with friends in Chicago. The Thayer Ball team met with defeat at LeRoy last Sunday, the score being 7 to 4. All attending called it a very good game and wish the other eight players could ‘swing’ like Red Granger. Red led the hitting by ‘smacking’ out three nice ones. A number of the boys went to see the pictures of the Sharkey-Sch-melling fight at the Palace Theatre, at Crown Point, last Friday evening. They just wanted to see if the judges made a good decision. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Blood and friends from Gary were visitors at the S. V. Cyphers home last Sunday. Tunis Gebhart who has been ill is now able to be up again. Mrs. M. Magnuson, Mrs. Strobe and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Skrine of Chicago spent last week as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tunis Gebhart.
