Our friends who have been reading tie Courier years at-our expenseshouId comider for a little while what itco U to publish a paper like th s. We pay many dollars erery year for paper, ink type, machinery, repairs, gisoliue, coai oil, wood, coal, labor, taxes interest, freight, expresaagp, postage, pictures, cuts and many other things that enter into our expense account, daily, weekly, and yearly. Besides our own time we have to pay all these bills for labor and materials, and we have to PAY THEM ALL PROMPTLY, Because so many of our subscribers owe us oae or more year's subscription, we arb often in need of money to meet cur bills when due. We have wonted hard to make a good paper, and a great many people have irankly told us voluntarily that THE JASPER COURIER is a good weekly new-paper. At any nue, we are assured lhat we have done our part, and we are printing ihis so as to give every delinqueut subscriber to understand that we need what he owes us, and that will make him feel that he should send ui the amount without delay. To pjt it in tLe fewest words possible, we simply conclude by saying Hi Im To M--W1 4 '

ßU Campaign be read and their names reported to Government. Notices of the meeting
will be mailed to each taxpayer and wage earner. The Government has adopted this plan to definitely determine who is for this government and who is for the Kaiser. There are only two classes of citizens in the United States, patriots and traitors. There is and can be no neutral ground. It is to be hoped that at the close of the W. S. S. Campaign that Dubois County will be reported 100 percent patriotic. Dubois Co. War Savings Committee.

The Looms of News. We swing the headlong Looms that weave " The tales of human earth Spun by the troubled continents In agonies of birfch. . We watch the steady-turning globe Upon its spindle hung; Men's lives are as a twisted flax Whose thread to .us is flung, Wi weave! We weave! The sky may rock, iLands pass as smoke away; Wte gather in the warps and weave The Garment of the Day. We braid their bliss, we braid their pain, We braid men's hopes and fears. We knit their silks of joy and make A pattern of their tears. Lo, we are old that once were y ouny ! But never, east . or west, Has one of all the circling suns Beheld- our Looms at rest. The world was vast, the world was dim When first that we were young; And in the half-light of his time Man walked dim fears among. He walked dim fears among, and saw His brothers in the glooms Lurk as half devils till we broke His terrors with our Looms. We snatched the scattered threads and tied The races face to face, We tied the sundered lands that once Stared blind across blind space. We knit men's hates, we knit men's loves, We make the pattern whole Of loves and hates. Behold! 'tis one!

How Many? as an American citizen, loyal Hoosier, is plain, definite, and imperative. Your sons and your neighbors' sons are going abroad to fight for their country, their flag, their hqmes and for YOU. They cannot fight without food, shoes, clothes, bread, and bullets. The Government looks to you for the money to buy these things. Your Duty is to lend not give this money. It is more than Duty more than patriotism it is a privilege to buy War Savings Stamps
