Rnbsoriotion 1 .50 Per Year. This papei is mailed regularly to it ubacribera until a definite order to discontinue ie received and all arrears paid in full; unless in the discretion of the publiehei a different course should be deemed advisable. FRIDAlY, JULY 30, 1915.
The marshal of Lebanon, 111., got drunk and arrested himself. He should have bribed himself to turn himself loose, exposed himself as a bribe-taker and expelled himself from the force for malfeasance.
Whisky!
Whisky is a good thing in its place. There is nothing like it for preserving a man when he is dead. If you want to keep a man dead put him in whisky; if vnn want to kill a live man put
whisky in him. From a recent
preme court.
The Miglrty Have Fallen.
Tnrd Georcre. Jasner's Red
headed Mayor, marched his:
troops up the hill and then marched down again. Lord George ushered his administration in with dire threats as to what would happen if his police force caught saloon men violating the law- Nothing less than 30 days supension, second offense forfeits license, Next week three or four violations, no arrests. Sunday, July 25, to ac commodate a few boozers
from Louisville every saloon open, no arrests, and nobody kicking. Lord George simply changed his mind. Wise men do! We want to know; if Lord George can tell us, why is a Louisvile boozers money any better than a Jasperites? Is their thirst greater? Eh Lord George

Richard M. Milburn of Jasper with his Studebaker was the
first man in Dubois county to register his machine at the State House this year. Dr. Jno. Casper of Jasper registered his Maxwpl a few days ago, making n.e total in this county 1385
There are now over 83,000
automobile owners registered for 1915 in the entire state, as against 65,000 in 1914.

Who's Afraid? A man who is afraid of a constitutional convention is afraid of a republic, For, of all the institutions of goverment, it is the one most essential to the safety and endurance of the republic, Constitutional conventions are cheaper than revolutions, Lagrange Standard. The Curfew Idiocy. The Curfew Law has been given up in Minneapolis. The police found that if they tried to enforce it they would have to omit all other duties, and even then would be unable to do so, The law acted as an invitation to young people to go into the streets at all the forbidden hours and the foolishness and illegality of it was apparent to all. Towns are not nurseries, and young peop e have rights which police are bound to respect.
Too True.
Adams brines back the
sensational story from Europe
that before the troops are sent intn hntxlp thp.v are made drunk.
Tr ia imnossible to believe this
and it is suprising that a woman of Miss Adams' experience would give credence to it, That would endanger
battles and possibly national exiatonn.fi hv dflnendin' on drunken
men is not i reasonable supposition. Military leaders are taking no such chances. Lafayette

THE ATTIC INSTINCT. Why 8omt Ptnoni Cling to Thlngi That Aro Rubbish. The attic instinct hangs on surprisingly, and an observing eye can tell how many years a person has lived in the city by merely glancing Tinder her Tjd. If there are three
hat boxes one will contain letters,
one scraps of ribbons and laces if it's a man it's newspaper clippings
and one anything from a broker
lock to old road maps. If, beBidee these, there are bundles of maga
zines and piles of newspapers, not
to mention a bicycle seat and a
green umbrella that one might use
in private theatricals if all these things have been placed tinder the bed against the protests of the family, if they are patiently moved trery cleaning day and clung to through a moving, then their owners have the attic instinct to such ar extent that there is not the slight est hope of their ever being cured They will think from an attic poini of view for the rest of their lives and their family might as well be come resigned. When people are willing to mak( themselves disagreeable over a bit of string and absolutely objectiona ble the subject of stray pieces oi brown paper they should not be ac cmed of havina: bad dispositions
nor should they he suspected of do ing it to ann.oy one. They arc merely suffering from the attic initinct and cannot help themselves. Their characters were formed and Have now hardened for a scheme of life where certain things were al
ways kept in the cellar, others in the wood shed, others in the pantry
and the cupboard on the hrst noor, füll others in the closets on th
next floor, and everything and any
thing that oversowed from any of thtfe places was just taken up to the attic. And now these poor dear oulfl live with a cellar, three stories and an attic still lodged in their minds, and, though they will in time disqjjpear, like all unnecessary members seventh toe, tails, an appendix in the Meantime they are Laving trouble with them, they are suffering and fighting for them, and It takes a serious operation to remove so much as one scrap book if (he owner thinks he may like to read it over in his old ngt.
