NECKBANDS ARE MANY
BLACK MALI N E PROBABLY THE MOST POPULAR. Need Not Be Much cf an Expense, as It Can Easily Be Mnde at Home Jet Ornamentation Always Right. Black maline neckbands with "hinestone slides and motifs are among the becoming neck accessories which the collaMess gowns have made popular. Any girl with average Ingenuity can copy one of theee neckbands in an hour's time and at a fraction of tlio price charged in the shops. To be sure, the rhinestone slides will not be set in silver and the pendant may be an inexpensive earring of the balliere style. There are usually four slides which liold the malines in place. Two of those come together at the back where the ends of the neckband meet aud the other slides are adjustable, though usually kept at a point just in front of the ears. This leaves a plain strip of the malines directly in front, whenthe principal part of the decoration is arranged. On the costly neckuands there is usually a large silver motif set with rhlnestones, from which is suspended a silver am1 rhinestone pendant. This arrangement is decorative and becom ing. and fortunately is capable of clever imitation. The height of the nec kband is entirely governed by the length of the wearer's neck. Something less than two inches is a good average width, and the marines must be folded three or four timos before any decoration is attempted. To give fhe firmness of the silver mounted rliinr stones slides the homemade neckband must be held upright by means of the finest of collar boning placed on the inside of the band just where the rhinestone nailhads are to be sewed on the outside. By selecting small separate rhinestones and using two vertical rows the collar bon ir.g will be easily concealed and the malines held upright, A bowknot design is excellent to choose for the center motif, or the rhinestones can be sewed on between the two slides in the form of a festoon. With the wide assortment of beautiful mock jewel earrings there will be no trouble in making a suitable pendant by simply twisting off the part which would identify it as an earring. In pensive lavallieres are also to be found well suited for this purpose. The meeting of the band is under two closely placed simulated slides, tiny hooks and eyes being used and the uprights of collar bone keeping the maline in place. The fancy for jet has led to the designing of striking combinations of white maline neckbands with slides and ornamental motif of eat jet. Similar decorations of jet have also been used on neckbands of malines in various pale shade., to match certain gowns. When upturning lace is used as a neck finish in the back the neckband is convenient as well as ornamental. The lace can be caught with fancy pins on each side of the back, the securely fastened neckband Insuring the proper position of the lace. Furniture Changes. One sign of the present day crowding into tiny apartments by city people ia seen in the- second-hand furniture stores, says the Christian Science Monitor. In almost all of them excellent pieces may be found, often hardly worn They are there because when a family moves from one flat to another certain articles prove to be useless ami others have to be bought to take their place This Bettdi to the second-hand store things which would once have been cherished in homes for generations. PRETTY DINING-OUT COSTUME1 Model Best Adapted for Restaurant i Wear. Though It May Be Put to Many Other Uses. A charming model for restaurant or dinner wear " as developed in Russian green cnarmeuse and its beauty much enhanced by the addition of c ream shadow and applique lace. The blouse' consists wholly of the two -ombined laces. the tiner lace predominating and crossed by bands of the applique. The girdle which is made of the folded silk sends forth a little triangular point to make a bright touch of color on the lace blouse. The Bl dersleeves i I net have double ruffle of net at the wrist, held by a narrow band of silk. The short tunic is fur-edged and falls over a plain under-petticoat. Paris Takes Up New Mascot. The above illustration ghowa the r.i-hionable plaited basque made in tissue to match the cloth of the costume dark blue in this instance. The upper part of the dress is cut in very loose .Magyar style, with wide squarecouriered revers in front and a sailor collar behind, over which falls l small white collar of mousseline like tho vest. FASHIONS AND FADS Headed handbags are always in style. Cotton broche crepo dresses have self-ruffles. Scotch plaid will trie the new morning suits. Straw hats for spring are being edged with fur. Skunk is one of the most efTective furs for evening. Grass cloth and organdy collars are particularly new. The tub silk waists never go altogether out of style. Cut steel is greatly in vogue for slipper and dress buckles. The shapes of the m-w jabots ami Schul are endlessly varied. A lovely pale gray Ifl one of the newest tints among gloves. Parasols have borders of Dresden patterning, edged with black. Silk buttons and trimmings will be seen on the new spring fichus. Ribbon Slippers. One pair of slipper soles, one and one half yards of five ami one -half inch ribbon, two yards of one-inch ribbon, live-eighths of a yard of one-half inch silk elastic. Gather one edge of half the wide ribbon and yew to the edge of sole, joining the cut ends in a seam at center back. Turn over the top edge of the ribbon one and one-half inches and stitch. Stitch again to form a casing three-foui tlis of an inch wide. Insert half the elastic In the casing and fasten in front under a bow made of half the narrow ribbon. MODELED ON OLD BASQUE Garment of Today Is Much the Same as That Worn a Generation or So Ago. The old basque of a generation ago is out again, but is a far nore artistic afTair than we will see in the old photographs of our aunts. They are called bodices now, are hip length, with just a suspicion of looseness at the waist, which has a wida net girdle not drawn in and to be worn to tilt upwards in the back above the wist line and end in a butterfly bow. These bodices are buttoned up the back, and unlike the Id-timers with numerous seams, they have only the one at the shoulder, which caps a perfectly tight and long sleeve. Mostly tliese bodies are developed in velvet, of a shade that contrast .vith the dressy skirt. For instance, a striking Redfern gown has appeared with a draped skirt of black panne velvet, the bodice is of peach-blow velvet, and the girdle is black net. Hlack velvet ribbon forms a band several inches above the edge of the sleeve, which is cut to come in a point over the back of the hand Embroidery, or bauds of fur, are used to finish the bottoms of these waists The neck admits of all the varieties of collars used at present. een to the Marie Antoinette ruche. Quaint Table B?lls. Very quaint and attractive are som of the table bells ghown now. Some are miniature copies of famous church bcils. One in silver is a replica of he deep-toned bell at Moscow, and the bells of many of the cathedrals in German cities are beautifully reproduced.

Kidney disease shows itself in backache, nervous troubles and disorders of the kidney .secretions. If tired, worried, lame, rheumatic, dizzy and nervous don't let a possible weakness of the kidneys escape attention until it turns into a case of gravel, dropsy or Uright's disease.
