There were four bids to place a new clock on the Court House ranging as follows: Howard Clock Co , of Chicago, bid $976 00 for everything Com plete, or $185.00 less if the County uses they now have. The Century Clock Co , of Manistee, Mich, bid $885.00 for Clock without bell, Seth Thomas Clock Co. $955.00 without bell or Carpenter work. E. A Pollhaus Clock Co. of St. Louis, for everything $966 00. It is the general opinion that the County can use the bell it now has, which will give the contract to the Century Clock Co, for $885 00 and this is a very leasonable price. However the question of letting the Contract was postponed until Saturday November 8th. The Clock will have an illuminated dial and the trustees of the Electric light plant have agreed to -furnish the light for clock purposes free of Charge. In this matter Auditor Seng has made a wise selection and the County Commissioners will do well to accept the terms tendered; as it may be a !oi. time before they again have mk h. an advantageous offer
