Floats, Horsemen and Torch Bearers Made up the Parade. The Jollification parade last Saturday night by the Democrats was the largest and finest held in Dubois county for years. A large number of people from surrounding towns were present and a big delegation from Huntingburg headed by their famous drum corp and handsome glee club.
The committee in charge of arrangements had intended to head the parade with a steam roller, bearing the streamer, "Run over by their own roller." The machine got as far as 7th. Street, and to stop scarring horses into fits was side-tracked. The Jasper Band furnished music. Nora Osborn represented "Uncle Sam" and Will Harroll "Wilson" on Ned Kress' mule. The glee clubs in their nfcely decorated wagon attracted much attention. About 25 automobiles were in line covered with stars and stripes and various streamers. "Trot out your Candidates for the Post Office." was about the beut of any. All the boys in town were out with torches and with horses and various wagons stretched the parade cit for over a mile long. Democrats, Republicans and Bull Moosers all had a good time and all felt they had something to be happy for. Tne first because they won, the second because Roosevelt was defeated and the third because Taft lost. With this feeling, who could help but have a good time The committee in charge of the celebration deserves great credit for the way the way the thing was handledCommissioner's Court The County Commissioners met in Special session last Monday and granted a liquor license to Joseph Barth of Ferdinand. The petition of Ignatz Jung was continued. The viewers report 9Ä adverslv on the road netition
of George Blessinger et. al. The report was accepted and the viewers discharged.
JUDGE FOR YOURSELF.
Waich is Belter Try an Experiment or Profit by a Jasper Citizen's Fxperience. Something new is an experiment. Must be proved to be as represented. "" r The statement of a manufacturer is not convincing proof of merit. But the endorsement of friends is. Now supposing you had a bad back. A lame, weak, or aching ope. Would you experiment on it? You will read of many so-called cures. Endorsed by strangers from far-away places. It's different when the endorsement comes from home Easy to prove local testimony. Read this case:
Joseph A. Goetz, Jasper, Ind., says: 4 Some time ago my kidney became disordered. The kidney
secretions were too frequenu ia passage and highly colored. My back also ached a great deal Often there was a dull pain through my hips I tried plasters and a number of remedie?, but got little or no relief until 1 began using Doan's Kidney Pills. They cured me." For sale by all dealers. jPrice HO cents. Fostcr-Milburn Co., Buffalo, New York, sole agents for the United States. Remember the name Doan's

FIGHTS!
Last Saturday it after the Parade, Jack A-mr on of Cuzco, met Nick Eckert in Egg's saloon in the muss Jack called Nick a 4 'Bull Mooser" and Nick hit Jack in the face. Jack hit the floor. No arrests. Bal Meyers and Will Renner both of Ireland came to Jasper to see the jollification. As they were about to start home from Kunkel's Stable they got into an argument and Bail cut Renner several gashes with a knive, nothing serious. No arrests. About 11 o'clock Nora Osborn got into an altercation with Marshal Kraft and knocked Krait down and took his gun away. No arrests. No wonder the kids of this town have a hearty contempt for law. The Southern Baggage Jack at the Depot has learned a new one. Here it is: Bust 'em! Smash -.m! Turn 'em into junk; Kick a nice big hole In that brand new trunk. It's rather late to offer excuses, but it strikes us if Teddy had run on the bear-cat ticket instead of the bull moose he would have attained more popularity in Indiand elsewhere.
A Dilemma's Horns. The young lad y sighed deeply and iras almost affected to tears. "Harold," sh said, "declares that if I don't marry him he will end hia life, and I am afraid he will." She stifled a sob, then continued; "And Randolph declares that if 1 don't marry him he will go into politics and become great and famous, and then he says I shall see what I havo missed, and I am afraid ho will keep his word too." Overcome by emotion, sho buried her face in her hands, not knowing whether to save a life or to spare the country another politician. The First Census. The idea of the census originated among tho Romans, when a group of the many functions performed by tho liigh officer called censor received the name of census. It was taken every fivo years tffid indicated not onlytho number of tho respective classes of the people, but their domestic positions as husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. The first modern nation to take up the census was the United States of America in 1790. The first British census was in 18Ö1, but this did not include Ireland.
