Now that the State convention
is over and the Evansville Cour
ier and a few of the Evansville
tarier have succeeded in defeating
Mr. Boehne's chance for the
nomination for governor, the
Democracy ot the district would
be pleased to see that sheet quit

fight Republicans or else get squarely over on the other side.
The rank and hie ot the party
grow tired of a pretended political organ everlastingly fighting the party it pretends to be allied

The facts are now confirmed. Such testimony incomplete the evidence conclusive. It forms convincing proof of
merit.
The Democratic Platform. As democrats turn their attention to a retrospective view of the state convention and its work, many seek an explanation of the party to adopt a platform in accordance with the expressed desires of Gov. Marshall, State Chairman KorWy and other well known leaders. . Two planks, which it was generally conceded, would be included in the platform were omitted altogether. They were the plank
pledging the party to convert the railroad commission into pub
lic utilities commission and the
plank pledging the party to pass fri-Atewide nriraary law.
The explanation will not long . . T i 1 1
baffle the pouucai analysis, rvwiwntion was moving day for
Biß Business. It moved across the line which separates republim 1 1. J 4- r- si r
cans irom aemocrais anu u.uiv possession of the democratic party. Its strange influence was felt in the platform committee when the public utilities measure was defeated by a vote of 6 to 7.
In the platform committee, Big Business was ably represented by that pillar of corporate control, the Honorable Frank M. Kistler of Logansport. The Honorable Mr. Kistler was the chairman of the platform committee. Why he ever was appointed to this important place is more than honest, well-meaning democrats were able to determine. Again, the answer is easy. Kistler and his associates, the Honorable Michael M. Foley, the Honorable Mike Ryan, the Honorable Joe Bell, the Honorable Samuel Murdock, et cetera, were on the job with only one end in view the nomination of 4cpdidates believed to be friendly;to the interests they represent. When the platform adopted by the democratic state convention has been analyzed, for evidences inf Rffttesmanshin. there is a tre
mor in the hearts of many democrats who had expected something of real significance from
the nlatform committee on the
eve of a national campaign. T he
nlatform is a erlarinc: example of
petty politics. It is a make-shift to say the most, and obviously was drafted with the view of of-
f undine no one.
This substitute for a plank pledging the party to the enactment of public utilities commission law is "legislation requiring full publicity of all proposed franceise ordinances before their 'enactment." What the public demanded was not publicity, because a few militant newspapers are always sure to perform their duty to their subscribers in this J respect. The public demanded . some means of thwariing city councils bent upon a career or corruption, despite the publicity of which the democratic platform speaks. Indianapolis Sun. The citizens of Jasper will remember for many a day tne J asper Rathole Sewer business.

William John. Newton St.,
Jasper, Ind., says: 1 1 know of a case of kidney trouble where Doan's Kidney Pills were used with great benefit. The person suffered from lameness across the hips and this was accompanied by a dull, gnawing pain through the back. When I saw Doan's Kidney Pills advertised, it wnrrpd to me that they
might be just the remedy that
was needed and! procured asupnl v at Flick & Pf au's Drue: Store.
Tneir use brought relief and
nroved of benefit in every way.
I consider Doan's Kidney Pills
an effective kidney medicine. (Statement given April 24, 1907.) Lasting Results. On March 24, 1910, when Mr.
Jnhn was interviewed, he con
firmed his former statement and added: ' 'The great benefit deriv
ed in the case I have previously described has been permanent. Doan's Kidney are worthy of re-endorsement.,,
