for County Commissioner from the SecotitJ district of Dubois County, Subject to the Democratic prim-rirv election. Harry" W. Carpenter. Of Pike county, is a candidate for re-election as Prosecuting Attorney for the 57th Judicial Circuit. Subject to the decision of the Democratic primary May 9, 1912. Rev. W. A. Whitsett, of New Albany Methodist presiding elder of this district was in Jasper Friday holding quarterly meeting Rev, Whitsett was the t regular minister on this circuit abont twenty years ago and is remembered by many friends here. Samuel Kirby formerly a citizen of this county and well-known here, died at his home near French Lick Monday, Several relatives from Ireland, passed through here Tuesday enroute to his funeral. The Jasper Machine Works changed hands Wednesday. Messrs. Urich and Jerger selling out to Messrs. Jos. F. Friedman, Geo. W. Gramelspacher, Chas. Burro, and Frank Seng, who came here, some time ago from Ferdinand. The officers of the Trinity Sunday School extends a cordial invitation to all those not attending;
a Sunday School, to be present next Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. 4The lesson will be "The Call of the First -Disciples." x Lesson Text, Mark 1st, 14 to 28. A quartetts by members of the aduet class will be one of the musical numbers. Attendance last Sunday 71. The poultry fanciers of this locality met at Karl Weigel's harness shop Friday night of last week and organized The Dubois County Poultry, Pigeon and Pet Stock Association; John Judy was elected president, vVm. Erny, icepres , Geo. Wuchner sec'y, Robt. Harrison, asst. sec'y, John Hagen, treasurer and Joseph Merder, Supt, There were 21 orignal members which number will be greatly increased. It is the intentionof the local fanciers to hold an up-to-date Poultry Show here this coming- winter. They will have another meeting on March 22.

Paul Faulkner Shoots Himself Dementia and despondency attributed b to an injury last fall in a football game are assigned as the cause for the suicide of Paul Faulkner, aged 20 years, manager of a spoke factory and saw mill at Norton, near here, His body was found in his bachelor apartments in a room adjoining the factory, The coroner investigated. What Foods Weigh. It may be convenient to know that one quart of flour weighs one pound; a quart of cornmeal, one pound and two ounces; a quart of best sugar, one pound; a quart of powdered white sugar, one pound and one ounce; a quart of best brown sugar, one pound ail two ounces; that ten gs weigh one pound, though this depends somewhat on the size; sixteen large tablespoonfuls make half a pint; a quart of butter, one pound and one ounce. To Wash Chamois Leather. Make a weak solution of soap and warm water. Rub plenty of soft soap into the leather and let it soak for two hours, then rub it till quite clean. Afterward rinse it well in a weak solution of warm water, soda and yellow soap. After rinsing wring it well in a rough towel, dry quickly and pull about till quite soft. It will then be better than most new leathers.
