Monday was Labor Day and the local saloon men had a day off as did also the employees of the Nove'ty factory; with these exceptions the observance of the holiday was not noticeable hereThe 25th annual Dubois County Fair, silver anniversary and home-coming celebration will be held at Huntingburg all next week and many good special features and attractions are promised and large crowds will no doubt attendBehave and Avoid Publicity. There is no logical iea?on vh news should not be published regardless of persons io;icerned. The fellows who get into trouble never give a thought about their mothers or sisters until theirins.have found them out and tfi'en they rush to a newspaper reporter ho as a rule they never before considered worth being treated civily and on bended knees witn tears in tleir eyes, beg to be spared the notoriety which they have so richly merited. Of course relatives dislike to see the names of their kin in print in an unfavorable light- Neither do they like to see them in jail but sometimes it becomes necessary to put them there, when their acts warrant arrest, they should also receive the publicity that is due them. If you do not make the news that is unfavorable, the newspapers will have nothing of the kind to publish, but if ou persist in making it, tfien you must expect to stand the spotlight Oi publicity. If there is any disgrace u ;
the actions of the parti selvts, n't the publicati facts. Every subscribe . newspaper takes the pap r. t.-. to see what ha? been suppieo i, but to ascertain the facts concerning what is going on in his home town and abroad, and there i3 an implied obligation on the part of the publisher to furnish the readers all the information possible.
If you are going to become tho i i i
aauy or a uastara, or get into some other scrape expect to have
it published.

New York, Sept 5. The death knell of the charity grafter has been struck by a committee of public spirited women, who after discussion of this so-called social pest at the apartments of Mrs. A Älclver Kerr, at the Ansonia.
adopted a method to put a stop to
cr.
Mrs. Kerr, an ardent auftraget and club woman, said yesterday a bill had been drawn up which would be presented to the legislature this fall, compelling all charity workers, connected with a church or well known charity organization, to be licensed by the state. The bill also provides for a complete detailed report of every big affair g.ven by private persons in the name of charity. The chief object of the bill, Mrs. Kerr said, is to discourage the "charity grafter," who, temporarily at least, often works injury to scores of earnest and
