A Bridge Al Porlersville.
A meeting of the Commissioner of Daviess and Dubois county was held at Portersville last Thursday to discuss the building of a bridge across White river at that point. The meeting was held on the proposed site of the bridge near Portersville and a delegation from Jasper and Dubois county
ers of hoth counties have criven
'their consent to the construction
of the bridge and the joint meeting was for the purpose of deciding on its location and the style of oridge There was considerable rivalry in the- selection of a si'e. A large number of the Dubois
ty farmers wanted the bridge ed near HaysJIe, which
ould make it cross the river in
to Martin countv, but the Martin
county commissioners refuse to
consider the bridge so the mat
ter was taken up with the
Daviess county board, with the
result that their consent was
obtained, The farmers in the
extreme southeastern part of
Daviess and the northeastern
part of Dubois are all anxious for
the building of the bridge- Din
ner was served on the grounds at
the meeting
Cost of Bridge $15,000
Dubois Duplicate 89,000,000.
Daviess Duplicate $15,000 000 Leaves Dubois to pay 9c on each dollar to Davioss 15c. If the bridge does not cost more than $20,000 it is a good
investment
