The legislature labored and brought forth a calf in the shape of a Saloon Regulation bill: There are several parts of the measure that merit approval, others that will not hold water

The license fee partisreasonab'e enough. The placing of the bur-

aen on tne snouiaers ot (jounty Commissioners to decide the limit of population, and on town trustees and city councils to fix the corporation li -ense, looks as if they desired to srnrk. The clause permitting saloons to re main open until 12 o'c'ock at night in cities and closing- them 1 at 10 o'clock in towns, is class

legislation and discriminates

against the town man. It is
