please. The Truant Officer Election. The County Board of Education met at Supt Melchior's office Monday May 3d, and elected Mr. John Schwenk, of Boone township, for that position. Mr. Levi Jacobs, who has made an excellent officer, was not a candidate. The other candidates were James Miller, of Duff, and Ben Gehlhausen of Jasper, The new officer will take the position. COMMiSSIONRES COURT. The County Commissioners met Monday May 3th, and allowed

The claim of John F. Schurz for
$150 damages for a hoore that fell through a bridge was dismissed. Ed. C Landgrebe's report on the Huntingburg and Holland Rock Road was accepted. Henry Berger's report on Huntingburg and Holland Rock Roads was accepted On the H'burg and Bretzville rock road petitioned for by F. T- Poetker et al bids were filed as follows: W. L. Gregory for $12.994. J. F. Parsons " 13.994. Edgar Traylor " 14.100. All the bids were rejected and the Auditor was ordered to readvertise for bids on June 7, 1909 at 10 o'clock A. M , Two of the bonds were defective and the other was considered as being too high. John M. Schmidt bid for $375 for repairs to Court House was continued. This will however be accepted as soon as the County Council makes the nessary appropriation. The Viewers report on the road petition for by Louis H. Merntle et al was accepted same for the road of B. T. Brownetal. TheJamesT Miller et al road petition was continued. Viewers were appointed on the roai petitioned for by J. Steinkamp et al also on Chas A Jackson et al road. Same on Peter Vonderheit et al road. The Harbison Township rock roads received no bid and the matter was continued. It is said that the estimates on the work! was too low and will have to be
