The democrats, of Jasper and Bainbridge township met at the Court house last Saturday night and organized a club which will be known as the "Bryan & Marshall' ' C lub. County Chairman Bomar Traylor called the meeting to order and stated the object of same. Upon motion the following officers were elected: President, J. P. Schwenk; Vice-President, George W. Gramelspacher; Secretary, William Melchior; Treasurer. H. H. Castrup. After the election of officers, chairman Schwenk introduced Congressman V. E. Cox, who addressed the club and predicted a triumphant victory for Bryan Kern and Marshall at the conclusion of the speech, three rousing cheers were given for Brvan, Kern and Marshall led by Com modore Dan A. Conroy. The chairman then announced that the next meeting of the club will be next Saturday night Aug. 22, and asked everyone to come and join tne clubAbout 200 have joined and it is the aim of the officials of the club that the membership should be increased to at least 600. something out of the ordinary. Congressman W. B. McKinley of Illinois, tells the prize Uncle Joe Cannon story The Speaker was pestered by a book agent, so Mr. McKinley says, and the agent simply wouldn't leave Uncle Joe's room until he had received an order for an encyclopedia consisting of thirty volumes In due time the books arrived, and the Speaker, after making an examination of them, made out a check on the Sergeant at Arms ot the Honse lor the price of the books. His indorsement of the check, written on the back jin his own handwriting, read: This check is in full payment for thirty volumes of Blank's encyclopedia. The books are not worth a damn, and are dear at that, but the clever manner in which the gentlemanly agent came it over with your Uncle Joe was worth the price. AGE NO 15 All.
