William Schüler and Miss Lula Schietter were united in marriage at St. Joseph's church Tuesday morning. The groom is the son of Jas. Schuler and the bride the third daughter of Andrew Schietter. A wedding dinner and reception was had at the home of the groom about two miles northwest of Jasper were gathered a large number of relatives and friends. In the evening a wedding dance in honor of the happy event was had at Kunkel's hall which was attended by many friends.

The groom is an industrious young farmer and himself and

bride will make their home on a

farm near Jasper.

The Courier joins with the numerous friends of Mr. and Mrs. Schuler in wishing tbem

much happiness. The editor of the Madison Out

look has this to say concerning

one of the business men of his town. Henry House, our leading merchant, with whom we have been spending $20 to $30 a month ;U3t as freely as water for the past year, was around recently and wanted us to bid on 300 bill

heads and 200 envelopes that he

was thinking of having printed. He had written to Deadwood and to Omaha for bds also and would let us know who would get the job next week. We gave Henry a horse, raucous laugh, and immediately wrote to Gummery Mont & Co., Chicago, and are now earring their department store ad. If our subscribers are looking for snaps they will find that Gummery Mont & Co.. can knock our local dealers silly on prices. Write 'em for catalogue. -Tyndall Register, N. Dakota,

gressman Chaney gives the fol

lowing explanation ot the new

pension law. Now that the widow's pension

bill has become a law, I wi.-h you

would make it known to your

readers that the rate of pension to all widows, minors, and help

less children, now on the pension rolls at a less rate, will be in

creased to twelve dollars a month,

under the act of April 19, 190S. from the date of the act No

application is required to obtain

the increased rate, but it will be paid by the United States i i ii i

pension agent at tne next Quarterly payment, upon receipt

of the voucher properly executed,

which is now in the possession

of the pensioner. The present

pension of certificate should be retained until its return shall have been requested by the pen

sion agent from whom the pension is received.

In all cases where widows have

been denied a pension of eight

dollars a month, on account of the property qualifications, the

widows thus rejected must make

aüplication to the pension bureau

for their pensions. In this latter

case, an application executed be

fore a notary public is required,

upon which the pension bureau

many take action. It is the only

instance under this late law

where a new application must be made.

Very truly yours, JOHN C. CHANEY.

TAX OFFICER WILL BIT

YOU, IF YOU

T

PAY YOUR TAXES OR LOSE ALL

YOUR GOODS. You must pay your taxes. If

you do not pay them, the tax officer has a right to come into your house and take your house

hold goods, even though they

may not be worth more than $15 yes, whatever may be their

worth, the tax officer has a right to take them. This, in substance, is the official opinion given to the

State board of Tax Commission

ers by James Binghan, Attorney-

General.

It seems that a law passed in

1887 exempted household goods not exceediug in value $100 from levy and sale to satisfy delinauent taxes. Another law was passed in 1903. It has been

understood that the law of 1903

makes it possible to seize house

hold goods of any value whatsoever to satisfy delinquent taxes.

But it appears that the conscience of some of the taxing officers out in the State became troubled and they asked the State Tax Board for a definite opinion. John C. Wingate, of the board, wished to handle the affair just right, so he got an opinion from the Attorney-General.

Smile Keep Affection. No matter what the novelists say against her, the smiling wife is an improvement on her stern browed sister, and the smiling mother is the one who gathers

her babies most tenderly in her arms. Children read more in looks than in speech. "She talked kind, hnfc sho

a new teacher as a reason for his refusal to go to school. And big people are affected much more than they relize by the expressions of the faces that meet in street "She was so pleasant" is the inscription on a moss mottled stone in a entintrv nimm h.

the cleaning, but will leave a high gloss such as new paint has. If once used this common glue will become a household necessity. REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS. John A.
